October KAVA events at the Courthouse Kinvara:

(1) Launching on Friday 5th October 7pm: KAVA are pleased to welcome a visiting exhibition to the Courthouse: M’Asal Beag Dubh: Contemporary Imaginings of a Classic Tale. 11 artists from Galway and Clare come together to create a contemporary, visual interpretation of the tale ‘M’Asal Beag Dubh’ by Pádraic Ó Conaire. (Kinvara was the original setting for the story). The project was initiated for Galway’s Great Read 2017, supported by Galway Public Libraries. Continues until Sunday 14th October, open daily 11am – 5pm

(2) ‘Photographs  and Fairies’  a multimedia exhibition by Burren artist Regina O’Dea opens on Friday 19th October at 7pm. Continuing until Sunday 28th October, open 11am to 5pm daily.

(3) Smart Arts Kinvara: a collaboration between 12 Kinvara teenagers, and 12 KAVA artists. During the summer a group of budding young photographers attended a series of smartphone photography workshops given by a professional photographer in the Courthouse. One photo from each participant was then chosen to be used by a KAVA artist as the basis of an artwork. Come along to see the resulting artworks and the original photographs which inspired them in an exhibition opening on Tuesday 30th October 7.30pm. continues until Sunday 11th November, open daily 12-4pm. This project was funded by Small Town Big Ideas as part of Galway 2020.
