Latest News Updates

  • Kinvara Community Council: Our June monthly meeting will take place on Wednesday 18th June at 8pm and we encourage all members of the community to attend these meetings where discussion and debates on any items put forward on the agenda are always welcome. All sub groups who are affiliated to Kinvara Community Council must send a representative to every KCC meeting in order to maintain their benefits. Any items for inclusion on the agenda must be emailed in by Monday 16th June and you must be there to present your item. 3 June 2025
  • Annual General Meeting: The AGM of Kinvara Community Council will take place on June 18th as part of our June Community Council meeting. The Agenda will include the Chairman’s Report, Annual Accounts for 2024, and Proposals for Directors. Nominations for directors should be received in the office by Wednesday, June 7th. Nominees will be proposed and elected at the meeting.  3 June 2025
  • Merriman Hotel: The Kinvara Community Council remains steadfast in its call for the cancellation of the International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) contract for the Merriman Hotel, and for the property to be restored to its intended function as a commercial tourism facility. Despite continued engagement, our Oireachtas representatives have not succeeded in persuading the Government to uphold its stated policy of avoiding contracts involving the sole hotel in a village. 3 June 2025
  • Dunguaire Castle: The Kinvara Community Council has been informed by local councilors that Dunguaire Castle will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Following an infrastructure assessment carried out by Galway County Council, it has been determined that significant investment is required to restore the castle to a safe and acceptable standard for public access. At present, Galway County Council has indicated that it does not have the necessary financial resources to undertake the required works. Discussions are currently underway with central Government to explore potential funding options. As of now, no timeline has been provided for when a decision will be made, when restoration work might begin, or when the castle could reopen to the public. The Community Council will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as new information becomes available. 3 June 2025
