The 26th Fleadh na gCuach will take place in beautiful Kinvara on the May Bank holiday weekend from May 3rd to 6th 2019. The brainchild of Tony Moylan, the Cuckoo Fleadh celebrates the music, art, literature, poetry and overall creativity of the village with something for everyone. Music will be ringing the rafters with nearly forty traditional music sessions arranged over the weekend featuring the cream of Ireland’s musical talent as well as the Cuckoo Café Trail with all music sponsored by the publicans and café owners. Art lovers will be wowed by KAVA’s Art exhibition ‘The Dark Edge of Europe’ while singers will be in full flight with a singing session in Tígh Sayre on Friday evening hosted by Eugene Lambe and the regular Cuckoo Singers Session on Monday afternoon. Poets will also feature on Monday morning at their annual poets’s breakfast in the Pier Head. Activities for children include a rhythm and song workshop for 5-7 yr olds in Tígh Sayre on Saturday morning followed by a tune workshop with Máire O’Keeffe. Then there’s the puppet show with Tommy Baker of Yourman’s puppets on Saturday at 2.30pm in Kinvara Community Centre and on Sunday KAVA will host a Cuckoo Children’s Treasure Hunt. Sunday of the Cuckoo wouldn’t be the same without the Coole Music Gala Family concert at 6pm with an eclectic mix of music from Bach to the Beetles. And if all that’s not enough check out the Water Jogging, the Waiter’s Dash, the new Boules Pitch, the Earth Keeper Challenge and much more. All in all Kinvara is the place to be this May Bank Holiday Weekend!
