Local poets Mary Madec & friends share their breast cancer experience through poetry and art in the BOSOM PALS anthology with original paintings from Ruth Cadden. A beautiful and thoughtful gift. Kinvara Adventure Talks

Kinvara Adventure Talks are here again, happening every Thursday in November in Tully’s side room. Doors open at 830pm, talks begin at 9pm. More high calibre talks for everyone to enjoy, see info below: 

* November 7th: This summer six climbers from Ireland attempted the West Buttress on Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America at 20,310 feet (6,190 m). One of the successful summiteers, Lorcan McDonnell will tell the expedition story, bringing us through the challenges and experiences. 

* November 14th: Joe McCaul, a resident of Kinvara, rowed a boat which he built, the entire length of the Shannon. Joe rowed through varying conditions of wind, rain and sunshine, from Beleek in Co. Fermanagh, finishing up 350km later in Limerick City.

* November 21st: Humphrey Murphy is going to share his experience of paramotoring, which involves stepping up into the sky with a paragliding type wing and a propeller on his back, across Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenestan, Mongoliastan and Ukraineistan.

* November 28th: Ian Walsh worked as a dog handler above the Arctic Circle in Norway, preparing dogs for the Finmarkslopet which is Europe’s biggest and toughest Dog Sled Race, where dogs pull sled and man for hundreds of miles.

Ardrahan Church

Ardrahan Church is fundraising to complete the work on the repair/replacement of its windows. Until this work is complete there can be no concerts or other events in our church. There will be a collection of clean, reusable clothes, shoes, bags, belts but no bedlinen, nightwear or socks. Any of these items will be gratefully received by Monday 4th November. Call Sue 087 6302780 and she will arrange to collect.

Gort Vibes Cinema

Gort Vibes Cinema Club: Thursday November 7th at the Town Hall Theatre Gort.  Our film for November is “Float Like a Butterfly” a powerful Irish film from the producers of “Once” and “Sing Street”. Written and directed by Carmel Winters, it tells the story of 15 year old Frances and her determination to champion her people both inside and outside the boxing ring like her idol Muhammed Ali. But society has other ideas for her and is determined to break her spirit. Doors open at 8 pm and the film starts at 8.30 pm. Admission is €6.  Refreshments are provided and everyone is very welcome.
