GALWAY 2020 – ‘PIER TO PEER’ KINVARA: Piers have a fascinating place in Irish communities and culture. This Small Towns Big Ideas initiative focuses on 4 piers in the townland of Kinvara, each with their own unique history and sense of place: Kinvara, Crushoa, Parkmore and Ceibh a’ Lochain (NewTown Lynch). A series of community initiatives are planned for 2020. ‘Wild Atlantic Women’ will launch the activities on7th and 8th of March. On Saturday 7th March there is a Burren Beo Winterage walk with Farmer Aoife Forde in Carran. This is followed by the New Moon swim at Lynches Pier and the Wild Atlantic Seaweed Baths are back there again for the weekend (booking direct from 4^th March). Sunday 8th March morning starts with the Celtic School of Yoga, Jack Harrison with Helen Colfer at St. Josephs School.   In the afternoon Ruth Fitzmaurice author ‘I Found my Tribe’ is in conversation with Lelia Doolan, film producer at the Merriman Hotel. After that everybody is invited to swim with Ruth and their local tribe at Traught Beach. Atlantic Masters are supporting us at Traught and hot soup will be available afterwards. Think of it like the Christmas Day swim but perhaps a little colder! Clann Machua Drama Group, Kiltimagh  return to Kinvara on Saturday March 28th to stage John B Keane’s much-loved classic play, Sive. Set in 1950’s rural Ireland, it tells the story of a young illegitimate schoolgirl named Sive, who lives with her uncle, his wife and her grandmother, Nanna.  Local matchmaker Thomasheen Seán Rua convinces her guardians to marry off Sive to an old farmer called Seán Dota for a large sum of money, a course of action that has terrible consequences.
This is a dark tale, full of passion, humour and wit that will grip you from the start – definitely a play not to be missed.  Tickets: €10*. Available from Be Yourself Boutique and Eventbrite (Online admin fee applies). Early booking advised.

Kinvara Community Council’s: monthly meetings take place the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is taking place on Wednesday 19^th February at 8pm in Kinvara Community Centre. We encourage all members of the community to attend these meetings. All sub groups who are affiliated to Kinvara Community Council must send a representative to every KCC meeting in order to maintain their benefits. Any items for inclusion on the agenda must be emailed in before Friday 14th February.

Kinvara Twinning – Trip to France A trip is scheduled for June 27-30^th to Locoal-Mendon in Brittany which is twinned with Kinvara. Any individual/family who’d like to get involved with the Twinning is invited. You will enjoy a weekend of Breton culture, food and organised activities and be hosted by a family in their home. You will have an opportunity to return the hospitality the following year when a Breton group will visit our community. Dunguaire Castle; are looking for a male butler for the 2020 season which is now fast approaching. Beginning the first week of April and finishing the middle of October. Applicant should have acting and singing experience and also be able to serve tables. Plastic Free Kinvara and Tidy Towns; are partnering again to kick off their Earth Keeper programme for 2020. This is to raise environmental awareness in primary school children. A fun day of art and science workshops will be held on Saturday 29th Feb 11am until 4.30pm. Watch this space for further details!
