The 25th Fleadh na gCuach will take place over the May Bank Holiday in Kinvara – see full programme below. The cream of Irish traditional music will be featured with over 90 renowned musicians confirmed for sessions in the pubs and cafes of the village throughout the weekend. A number of excellent concerts will also take place including an opportunity to experience the eclectic mix of Irish and Sardinian traditional music in ‘Ireland meets Sardinia: Traditional music from two Islands’ which will be hosted by KAVA in Kinvara Courthouse at 7pm.
The spectacular Coole Music Orchestra will also present a concert. This will take place in the Community Centre on Sunday 6th May at the family friendly time of 6pm. Children’s events include the always popular Yourman’s Puppet Show which will take place in St Joseph’s NS School Hall at 2.30pm on Saturday 5th and a Cuckoo Treasure Hunt, hosted by KAVA at the Courthouse from where it sets out at 3pm on Sunday 6th. Poetry, prose and song are included in the Fleadh na gCuach programme with the ever popular Poets’ Breakfast taking place in the Pier Head on Bank Holiday Monday at 11am and the Cuckoo Singers session happening at 4pm in Greens’s Bar. If you’re feeling athletic then the Cuckoo Family Fun Day is for you. Remember!! It starts earlier this year with registration at the Community Centre from 9.30am on Sunday 6th May. Make sure you also make your way to see and experience the two art exhibitions in the village during the Cuckoo Fleadh. KAVA have their annual exhibition of art work by local artists in Kinvara Courthouse and the work of Jim McKee, who was very much a local and still is, will be on display in Siar in an Exhibition called ‘The Head of the Sea’.
