Community Transport Study: Galway County Council have postponed the publication of a Community Transport Study for Kinvara until mid-April. Their reason for the delay is the requirement to produce an Environmental Screening Report. In the meantime, the Kinvara Community Council continue to advocate for a safe crossing point in the village.

  • Dunguaire Castle: The Kinvara Community Council has been informed by local councilors that Dunguaire Castle will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Following an infrastructure assessment carried out by Galway County Council, it has been determined that significant investment is required to restore the castle to a safe and acceptable standard for public access. At present, Galway County Council has indicated that it does not have the necessary financial resources to undertake the required works. Discussions are currently underway with central Government to explore potential funding options. As of now, no timeline has been provided for when a decision will be made, when restoration work might begin, or when the castle could reopen to the public. The Community Council will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as new information becomes available. 3 June 2025
