Join Karen Donoghue on a 10-week introductory crash course in Irish, suitable for complete beginners and those who never liked it in school but keep saying they’d love to learn it now. No prior knowledge of the language is necessary. With a degree in Irish and Translation Studies from NUIG and years of Gaeltacht living under her belt, Karen has been teaching Irish to beginners, in Ireland and America, for over 10 years. Through basic greetings and vocabulary, bitesize bits of grammar, and a helping hand with pronunciation, this course will focus on developing spoken Irish but also offers written notes for cues. There will be 10 classes in total (Sep 8, Sep 15, Sep 22, Sep 29, Oct 6, Oct 13, Oct 20, Oct 27, Nov 10, and Nov 17). Cost of course: €125 / student & unwaged €100. The next meeting is taking place on Wednesday 27th April at 8pm in Kinvara Community Centre. We encourage all members of the community to attend these meetings. All sub groups who are affiliated to Kinvara Community Council must send a representative to every KCC meeting in order to maintain their benefits. Any items for inclusion on the agenda must be emailed in before Monday 25th April.

Posted on 5 April 20225 April 2022The newly-formed Kinvara Community Orchestra, under the batons of Garry O’Briain and Rozanne Botha, looks forward to welcoming you to a special evening of music on Friday, April 29th, in Kinvara Community Centre. Entitled ‘That’s the Way the World Goes Round’, part of the concert will feature a tribute to legendary U.S. singer/songwriter John Prine who was a frequent visitor to Kinvara and who was very much part of the music community here. Special guests on the night will include Paul Mulligan and John Faulkner. To add to the evening, The Crescendo Orchestra and Ubuntu Trio from Coole Music will also join the programme, leading to over 70 musicians performing on the night! Doors open 7.40pm, concert starts at 8pm. Suggested donation of €10 at the door. We hope you can join us!
