Most of the events are free but booking is essential where indicated, as places are limited. Look up www.burreninbloom.com for all details. Book your place before it’s too late!

Kinvara Tidy Towns

Kinvara Tidy Town and as part of the Burren in Bloom festival, on Sunday 9th of June, botanist Micheline Sheehy Skeffington,  will lead a walk around Kinvara village and surrounds to look for wild flowers in different habitats. The starting point is Kinvara Community Centre at 2:30pm and this gentle and informative loop walk along the Green Road to the bottle banks and into Hollytree Garden will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, ending back at Kinvara Community Centre with a cuppa. Kinvara Plastic Free

Kinvara Plastic Free: have good news of a new initiative starting June 1st for Community Centre users. The Community Council have agreed unanimously to support Plastic-free Kinvara in their campaign to make the Community Centre a single-use plastic -free zone. We ask that you and your group support this initiative and find alternatives to single-use plastic for food or drinks, by bringing refillable bottles etc. and use the -soon to be filtered! – water from the kitchen tap. The Community Council and Directors are funding a filter for the tap water, to help ensure that this campaign is successful. We have found that young people, in particular, are concerned about environmental issues, and we believe they want change. This is part of a wider campaign around Kinvara. We hope we can depend on your full support.

Tígh Sayre’s Open Day this Friday

The Gort Family Resource Centre will host an Open Day in Tígh Sayre on Friday next, May 24thbetween 11am and 4pm. All are welcome and Councillor Joe Byrne will perform the official opening of the space at 3.30pm. Of course it’s also Market Day so a great opportunity to stock up on lots of fabulous locally made goods available just around the corner!

This New Kinvara Community Resource has been made possible by the generosity of the Shallow Family who have in memory of our friend, the late Sayre Shallow, made the ground floor space available to benefit the community.

Currently it is home to The Kinvara School of Traditional Music and Culture, with music classes for children twice a week.  Youth Work Ireland works with Teens from Seamount College on Tuesday Afternoons.  It has also been home to the recent Plastic Free Kinvara Exhibition and was used for Musical Events during the Cuckoo Fleadh.

Volunteers are kindly making  the space available for Internet Access, Printing and Directing  people from the community towards the wide range of supports, services and initiatives available in the area.

This Resource is for Young and Old.  If anyone is interested in utilizing the space, please email our Administrator Sandra administrator@gortfrc.com requesting a Room Usage Policy.  Once completed and returned to us it will be brought to our following Board of Management meeting for a decision.
