Kinvara Alive

Kinvara Alive held their launch at Kinvara Community Centre on Sunday October 8th. There were short presentations from each of the following services: Samaritans, Pieta House, MABS, Jigsaw, An Garda Síochána, Galway East Life Support, Anam Cara, IFA, Gort Resource centre and Kinvara Alive. John Burke from Elevate who recently climbed Mount Everest was the guest speaker on the day. The event was excellently supported by the local Community and was recorded by Kinvara FM, we will have a podcast available soon.

We have recently organised a safeTALK training and a two day ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) course in the village. Twenty four people completed the safeTALK training and eighteen people completed the ASIST training. We will continue to organise Safetalk training if there is a demand for it.

If anyone is interested in training in Safetalk we can be e-mailed at info@kinvaraalive.com or we can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/KinvaraAlive

Kinvara Alive was formed in December 2016 by voluntary members of the community in response to wellbeing and mental health issues within Kinvara. Kinvara Alive’s vision is to work with the local community to raise awareness and promote positive wellbeing and mental health.“We care, there is hope, ask for help”
