Your Community Centre needs a Spring Clean!!

This Saturday 3rd February at 12noon, the Kinvara Community Council is undertaking a spring clean of the centre.

Over the years it has accumulated large deposits of equipment and furniture which need to be moved on or disposed of.

So calling all users groups to give us a hand if possible to help with the spring clean.

We’d appreciate your help – see you then!

  • Thanks a million to everyone who turned up to help especially member’s of the Kinvara Men’s Shed 🙂

Kinvara Community Council

Kinvara Community Council would like to welcome our new chairperson Ian Walsh elected at our last meeting. Ian is an active member of the Men’s Shed group and also has previous experience in community and youth work. Also at the last meeting it was agreed that Des O Reilly and Eamon Coy would carry out a detailed review of the community council’s constitution and goals. They aim to report their findings in March. The council also agreed to give financial support to KAVA to help with their recent works upgrading the courthouse. KAVA will give a video presentation on their work and future plans at the next meeting of KCC which will be held on Wednesday 21st February at 8pm and all are invited to come along and ensure your voice is heard.

Christmas Day Swim

Thanks to all who contributed to the €1,593.99 collected at Traught. This was supplemented from Swimming Club funds and €2,000 was sent to Galway Hospice. In his own inimitable way, John Conneely marshaled the swimmers soon after 1p.m. and on his signal there was a great race to the ocean. Special thanks to Michael Bermingham, from Arrabawn who supplied the milk, Peter Kidd for the hot chocolate and Nico Lascar for the mulled wine. Cadhla Murray and Dara Hopwood of Kinvara Water Safety were vigilant lifeguards. Sincere thanks to Kinvara Swimming Club who organised the event. The work of the many helpers on the day is much appreciated.

Our hours are 10-1pm and 2-4pm.

The Merriman Hotel
